Lag Spikes

Post by AngryMouse » Sun Nov 13, 2005 8:22 am

Hey all, I've been running Warcraft3FT for close to a year now on a rented server. Was up to the 2.2.4 version then decided to install Warcraft3 XP for a bit to see what the feedback was. Well a month later the players want FT back on so I downloaded 2.2.7 and installed liked I've done many times but when playing it, there would be lag spikes every 5-10 seconds? I removed all plugins except FT and it still did it. I removed FT and it stopped...I recompiled again and installed again, spikes came back. I then installed 2.2.6, same problems. I put Warcraft3 XP back and and its all back to normal? Any ideas what the problem could be? I've set up many Warcraft3FT servers over the last year and never seen this before? I'm running amxmodx 1.60 and metamod 1.18 and Booster and HLGuard. I've removed booster and hlguard but it does nothing. It is saving to Vault, and the vault.ini file is new so I don't know whats causing it. Its definately not the host.

Yeah i've tried 2.2.6 and it was still bad, I even just tried 2.2.5 and it was actually ok for 15 minutes, then started doing it again.

I have absolutely no idea, I thought it was from the client cvar querying crap of 2.2.7...

What are the server specs? Does it happen with like just 2 people in the server?

It doesn't matter what other plugins I'm running because I've removed them all except for Warcraft3FT and it still does it. Like I said I've had wc3FT running for close to a year with no dramas at all using amxmodx 1.01 and metamod 1.17, its only since I upgraded to the latest versions this is happening. It happens with no one on the server, or with 16....I can enable the plugin, restart the server in hlsw and watch the spikes. I should have taken a screenshot to show you while I was running it. Everyone in the server gets the spikes. Its a rented server with good spec's and great pings...just not sure what to try next.

I've thought about going back to 2.2.4 but that won't compile with 1.60 for me. I've attached a picture of what the lagspikes look like in HLSW. I also didn't understand what SSH to the box means?

No its not just in HLSW, you can see it in the game as well. I just removed pretty much everything and started from scratch. I've had 2.2.7 running for an hour now with not many lag spikes at all...probably one every minute but still more than with any other mod I've been using? The server ip is at 144.140.25.229:27025
