Steam is so annoying, you install it great, uh oh wheres my half life cd key oh here ok cache files omg 3 hours for all the games ok i can wait, updating steam platform ok fine 10 % 20 % connection lost, wat oh crepe ok start again cool it starts at 20 % 30 % stopped oh crepe ect.... finally 100 percent ahh ok wat updating games another couple of hours oh shoot. ok its 2 in the moring and steam is done. ok my password wat no my password i forgot it nooooooooo i will jsut make another account here we go cd key invalid already in use by another account. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooo!!!!!!!
Lol i even know a person that has 6 steam accounts all registered to1 cd key when steam first came out and there was hardly any secruity. And what is with the friends network, i bet there is just 1 guy workin on it but he actually died 10 yrs ago, and no-one noticed, and hes just sittin their in his chair decomposin. The friends network could have been as good as x-fire and maybe even replced it.

And if by some miracle u get ur steam to work then your sorted, you have the most played games in the world at your finger tips and the option to browse 3rd party games there are endless half life mods out there, the best of which being the specialists, sven co-op and natural selection for hl1, and garrys mod and hidden source for hl2.

I've never once had an issue with STEAM. Its the best game distribution platform on the market currently. Although I have numeorus complaints about VALVe, they general center on the HL2 SDK. STEAM is great.

Not sure why you're surprised it takes over 3 hours to download the 6+ gigs involved in a full STEAM install. I'm amazed its that fast.

I HATE STEAM, on the initial install it makes my CPU shoot to 100% during the steam update.... Why? Like seriously, why could it possibly need 100% of my CPU. It' a POS IMO, it's a great concept, but it's a POS

I don't see anyone in this thread claiming STEAM has stopped piracy. Do you?

Geesu: That 100% is it validating the game caches to ensure you can actually play the game and it isn't corrupt. This type of issue is something you'll see go away in the next few years due to Dual-Core. God I want one.

That was one of the main reasons that steam was created to stop piracy, it works to a certain extent, better than most gams, but tehres always those evil  people out there crackin the code.

ahhh dual core, lol how much that gonna be :?

Piracy was NOT the main reason for steam. I don't feel like elaborating right now, its lunch hour, bbl :P

LOL I've seen that before. Steam really used to suck. I guess it's getting a little better. Still would like the fucking friends list to work...
