Lag issues

Post by PoOn » Wed Nov 16, 2005 4:40 am

I got a dedicated server with uwar3 mod installed. I know the mod is causeing most of the lag(adleast i think so). So i was wondering if there is any possible way to reduce the lag and still have to mod installed.

By dedicated, do you mean hosted on your computer? :/

uwc3 is a resource heavy mod. unless you have some sort of high spec computer, you can expect some lag. another thing is since uwc3 is heavy resource mod, paired up with the amount of data sent, you will need a fast line/fat pipe. otherwise, its lag heaven.

rent suggested...do u even have a fast internet connection that can handle a big number of people?

i have never heard any suggested specs to run wc3:ft or ultimate...what do u guys think are good specs for a server to have to run a 20 person server with the mod?

and if u rent a server do u know how to set it up or would u need someone to do it for you?

I seriously doubt you can host more than 8 players from an home broadband connection.

that is a decent computer to run a dedicated server for ultimate warcraft 3. it sounds like its your internet connection thats causing the lag. if you need help at all setting up the server, i can help you with that.

Are you playing from the same computer? That will put more than twice as heavy a load on the PC.

But regardless, like I already said.. I doubt you can host more than 8 players on a home connection.

A 16 player server requires at least 56K/sec to 60K/sec of bandwidth when full. Most home connections cap out or begin to slow down at around half that. We're talking upload, not download.
