To all of you having Problems with connecting to local mysql

This is only for Linux user:

There is a bug?! which costs me full two days to find. Everytime when I used WC3 Sql or the amxx sql admin plugin the connection to mysql Server failed. It says:

[warcraft3FT.amxx] Error: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (111)

(127.0.0.1 is the same)

This is because the plugins try to connect via unix socket (which is good in general).

But they are looking only here for the socket: /tmp/mysql.socket Sometimes (think mysql > 5 or at Debian) the socket is at /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

So this both plugins cannot connect. War3FT writes an error message to the log file if it's in debug modus. Admin sql doesn't write an error message but it's the same with it.

So just put this on shell an be happy:

ln -s /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock /tmp/mysql.sock

For me, it was:

ln -s /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock /tmp/mysql.sock

All else fails, check /etc/my.cnf and it will have the basedir listed.
